Shaft Flex or Stiffness

Shaft flex is a rating of a golf club shaft’s ability to bend during the golf swing.

All shafts, no matter how stiff, exhibit flex under the forces of the golf swing. Flex is generally rated as – extra stiff, stiff, regular, senior and ladies.

There is no standard measure of shaft flex so each manufacturer will determine how they measure flex. Because of this it is impossible to compare flexes across manufacturers or indeed between different models from the same manufacturer.

Cool Clubs uses a much finer measure of flex called Frequency which measures the Cycles Per Minute (CPM). Because of this we can build clubs to a much better match to your swing requirements.

Also, using this independent measure we can build any shaft to the same flex removing the individual manufacturers variation.
